Saying Yes to the Dress

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I never thought I'd get married. So when I was thinking of a wedding dress I had no clue what I wanted or what I thought I would have wanted. I knew that I needed something to fit my top half pretty good. Meaning, I have huge boobs. I did NOT want to keep pulling my dress up all night long. So I did splurge and bought a wedding magazine. I did get some great ideas from that actually and was able to pull some pages out to show when I went dress shopping.

I knew I wanted to dress shop early. I didn't know if I'd be picky but I am a thrifty gal and needed to get a good deal. Dave and I decided on a budget for the dress of $300 MAX. To me that seems outrageous that I'd even spend that much! However when I started looking at prices, holy smokes batman! The one dress that I LOVED beyond words was twice our budget. Heart breaking. So I got this email from David's Bridal saying that they were having up to $100 off clearance gowns and $50 off bridesmaids dresses. I didn't think it would hurt to look.

I called my mom and we made the time to go in the afternoon on Tuesday the 11th. Here's a few things..

1. I didn't expect to find the dress yesterday
2. I didn't expect to find the dress yesterday and take it home with me that day
3. I didn't expect to find the dress yesterday and take it home with me that day and not need any alterations (yet)
4. I didn't expect my parents to buy my wedding dress

That last one I was shocked. I literally and honestly was not expecting my mom to be texting my dad about dresses and then have him call me and say they would buy my wedding dress. I held back tears when my dad said that on the phone. That was the only time I was close to crying. I thought I would cry when I found the dress but I didn't. But I think my mom knew it was the perfect dress. She saw how happy I was wearing that dress.

I'm not looking at any more dresses. I am beyond blessed to have found my wedding dress so early and I am so blessed to have my parents in my life and so supportive of Dave and our family we have. If you want to see a picture of the dress text me! I can't put it on instagram or give any details because Dave is on instagram and he reads my blog. I can say though that its perfect. It's me and I can definitely see me wearing this while I marry Dave. (:

But I have no problem sharing via texts so feel free to ask! More wedding stuff to come! I did so many crafts lately and I can't wait to share.

  2. Wedding planning is so much fuN! The dress shopping is icing on the cake! Yes there are stresses that go along with all of it, but if you don't let it get to you, planning your own wedding can be so magical. You can make it to fit your dreams. Today is my 2 year wedding anniversary and I just did a post about it with pictures (and a video too) go take a look maybe you will get some inspiration from it! Congrats!

    1. Thanks so much for the sweet comment! I'm only stressed because I'm the one doing all of it. We don't have a planner and I feel like I'm constantly forgetting something. But with a year and a half to get everything done, I think I'll be golden. I loved the video. It was so sweet and made me tear up ;) You looked gorgeous. What was the name of that song?
