Nine Months

Just recently we switched our pediatrician. From the beginning we've had issues with organization, schedules, appointments, etc. with our pediatrician. They would set up our appointments in offices we never went to then would refuse to see us. They had other kids under my name when I clearly only have one child. Things there were not organized what so ever so we made the switch and could not be any happier with the decision. This office answers the phone without making you listen to any recordings, are incredibly knowledgeable and have great weekend hours and walk in hours. So today was our first appointment for our NINE month old baby boy!!! I cannot believe he is nine months old already and I got to get my butt in gear for the birthday. (:

Weighing in

Again, as most of you know, weight is a big issue for us preemie mommas! Going from my tiny little peanut at 3lbs 8oz to a healthy 18 whole pounds is just amazing. I'm so happy he's doing so well. 18 whole pounds!! I can't believe he's in double digits and almost to 20lbs. That puts him in the 13th percentile for weight. That number seems very small still but I'm glad he's on the charts. His height is 28in. He's soooooo long! It kills me how long he is. He's out of his car seat by nearly an inch so if anyone has some great car seat recommendations please let me know. We obviously are following guidelines and keeping him rear facing till two so if we can find a car seat that does both rear and forward I'll be happy with that. His weight is on the charts at 42%.

Health

Will has not been sick. Knock on wood please but for being premature his health has been awesome. He's never even had a cold really and if its anything, the humidifier works wonders. The pediatrician is happy with his development as well. The only thing we have to do here in the next few weeks is go to his developmental appointment down at the Magee NICU and then head to the neurologist. Yeah. That word scares me. However it's only because his head circumference has jumped up so much in three months. The pediatrician thinks it's because he's still so small for his age and his head has always been on the charts. It went up though from 50th to 87th percentile so we're going next Wednesday to get it checked. I swear we are always at Children's for one thing or another! Good thing they are amazing.

Sleep

Sleep? What is that? Will has always been in a crib in our room. However he would wake up three to four times a night. The last pediatrician we had said it was still okay to feed him in the middle of the night when he woke up because of his adjusted age. He would still eat the entire bottle. Sunday we moved the crib into the boys room. So now he's out of our room and he is already only waking up once. It's only been two nights and I'm hoping tonight is even better! Last night we had a 7 hour stretch. I can't tell you how wonderful this is now. Seriously guys, fingers crossed for tonight!

Will has officially been out of 3-6 month onsies and clothes but the 9 month stuff doesn't fit him! We're usually naked. It's going to suck for fall weather that's peaking through. He better start filling out so he can wear clothes haha!

We've been in size three. We ran out of size two's and didn't feel like buying more because he would have grown out of them before using all of them. I have a feeling size three is going to be a long haul.

Diet

This is a biggie. Last month he stopped wanting purees to the point where he just wouldn't eat anything because he got so upset with them. So I switched him to solid foods three times a day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and oatmeal before bed was his usual and he was eating a good bit. He did great with that for about three weeks. However he was having really bad tummy issues because of it. So I bought him some different spoons that were more like mine. He loved the metal part of the spoon instead of all plastic ones. So I let him try a puree or two again and switched out one meal a day for a puree. It actually really helped his tummy troubles! So now we usually have a decent breakfast, (banana, oranges, eggs, waffles, yogurt), a decent lunch or a puree, (lunch meat, cheese, carrots), and a dinner is usually a puree or green beans, peas, pasta.

Milestones

Will is finally crawling! This milestone was huge for us. I definitely think the physical therapy we receive from the state is the reason his milestones are getting accomplished. He can sit up alone, he can crawl and he can pull himself up into a standing position. 

5/31 - first trip to the public pool

8/6 - had avocado for the first time

8/16 - started crawling! 

8/18 - moved into the big boys room with his brother

So overall we are all very happy and healthy and cannot wait for fall to start. I can't wait to celebrate Halloween and go to pumpkin patches and hay rides and of course Starbucks daily. Hope everyone has enjoyed the wonderful summer!
