Holidays

Holidays are so much more special with a baby. Everyone is excited to celebrate a "first". It makes it so much more fun. I never cared too much about fourth of July because it was just another holiday of drinks, bbq and swimming. Now with a baby, I had to stay up to see the fireworks, not over do it on food and drinks and overall enjoy every moment of the day.

Will did really good. He took a late nap and even though it was rainy and drizzling they did end up shooting off the fireworks. We party at my mom & dad's for the fourth every year for two reasons. The first is they have a pool. We are literally in the pool from 10 am till 10 pm every year. The next reason is that we sit on the pool deck and can see the fireworks right above us. There's no need to fight traffic to go downtown or to put on something other than a bikini and go somewhere! Will is such a little water baby. He loves the pool. We've been doing the "1-2-3 blow in his face" technique to get him to hold his breath and put him under the water. The first time I did it we had to get out of the pool because he wouldn't calm down. However the second time he calmed down right away! It was great.

So after some food and drinks and lots of water time the rain held off enough for them to shoot off the fireworks. Will was asleep in my arms at the time and woke up when we went outside on the pool deck. He was amazed by the fireworks. They were loud and sometimes I'd cover his ears but other than that he didn't mind the noise. He was loving the colors though. I think next year he'll enjoy it a lot more though.

I hope all of your holiday plans went smoothly and everyone enjoyed the time with their families! Lots of stuff is happening lately and it's nice to take some time out and enjoy our families together. This week we have Brayden, my step son, for a week of vacation. We are really enjoying the time with him. We don't see him enough. Will definitely loves having him around. He's all smiles when they play together. I just hope he'll grow up to know who Brayden is to him. We're in the process of planning Brayden's 5th birthday. I cannot believe he is five years old already. He's getting so big and we got pictures taken of the boys last night and the ones of just Brayden make him look so old!!

Wedding plans are also still coming along. Not much else to report since I'm taking a break to craft some things up for Will's first birthday! We need to book a dj and then all of the big things are booked. Then the other thing will be bridesmaid dresses before the end of summer. Hopefully we'll score a deal. My mom's getting her dress soon. She already knows what she wants and Dave's mom will look for one eventually. Things are getting done and that's very exciting. Crossing things off my many to do lists is a great feeling (:

Enjoy your summers ladies! It's time to head off to the pool!

  1. These holidays really are so much more fun with a baby! Except my baby slept through the fireworks (which is probably a good thing, ha ha!)
